This scares me for officers in Indiana. I am not (down to 49 more guesses!) But, I am just completely baffled on WHY this would need to be a thing?
Basically what the article (linked above) says is that the Castle doctrine is now extended to law enforcement. Before if someone “forcibly entered” your home, property, vehicle, whatever, you could use deadly force. Now, they’re saying you can do that against cops if the entry is “unlawful.”
In the heat of the moment, how many average citizens know what entry is unlawful?
My local prosecutor was doing a presentation on new laws for 2012 and she explained this as the worst thing to happen to LEOs. It’s going to take an innocent cop getting killed before its repealed. I just hope it’s no one from LPD.
